11. TRIANGLE POSE
Setup
Facing the long side of your mat, step your feet about 3 ½ to 4 feet apart. Turn your right foot out to the right about 90 degrees, and align the arch of the back foot with the heel of the front foot. Raise your arms parallel to the floor with the palms facing down.
Movement
Exhale and reach out through the right arm, extending your torso forward over the right leg. Bend from the hip joint, not the waist; try to keep the underneath side of the waist long. Let your right hand come onto your leg, just letting it rest wherever it comes naturally after reaching out through the right arm. It will likely come to the shin, but possibly to the ankle, or even above the knee joint (don’t rest it on the knee joint, though). (Option: use a block underneath the hand, rather than resting the hand on the leg. This adds stability).
